François Vogel

François Vogel Parisian director François Vogel has been creating arresting visuals for the better part of a decade. Vogel's career in the visual arts began with video artist Dominik Barbier's gallery installations.

He was launched into the American market through a partnership with Goodby Silverstein and Partners, when they asked him to create HP's "You" campaign. The work highlighted digital photography with a multi-layered collage of photos moving in many directions. He then went on to expand the work for the "Picture Book" campaign, which was honored as AdWeek's Campaign of the Year and swept the 2004 AICP show. He also directed award-winning shorts including Trois Petit Chats and Les Crabes.

Shapes are an enormous component of Vogel's work to date. Cubist squares, flat planes in a 3D space and independently moving elements are trademarks of his reel. "The space between the subject and the camera interests me. I like to manipulate that space," he says.
